Absolutely!nWhat youu2019ll learn & achieve:nAn Associate Field Engineer performs safety and non-safety certification inspections, audits of quality systems and field evaluations in accordance with the required performance standards and requirements including ULu2019s Healthy Buildings audits.nn Assists in analyzing and evaluating examination and test results against applicable requirements. n Uses technical judgment to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise the continued application of the UL Mark and determine if alternative is achieved. n Assists in interpreting and analyzing examination and test results against UL requirements, verifying the accuracy of manufacturersu2019 measuring equipment and reviewing production and inspection records. n Periodically reviews manufacturersu2019 programs of production, inspection, and shipping to ensure products are produced and marked in compliance with UL n Assess building systems including air distribution, water distribution, heating and cooling systems as necessary.n Evaluates and facilitates options for corrective action where variations from UL requirements are noted. n Communicates with manufacturers and customers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction and others to conduct non-safety and safety certification inspections. Investigates misuse of UL Mark situations. n Provide general information on policies and procedures for the varied UL services along with promoting and explaining the benefits of new and existing services. n Discuss procedures, test methods, test results, sample selection and variations in products, devices, processes, systems and materials as necessary to resolve problems, implement changes to existing requirements or help develop new requirements. n Use instruments to perform inspections, such as micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, and other UL supplied equipment. Observes use of manufactureru2019s equipment necessary to meet UL requirements. Confirms proper calibration of manufacturersu2019 measuring equipment and may perform calibration of UL supplied equipment. n Document examination, variations and test results to appropriate UL forms. Maintains logs for scheduling inspections, time and expenses. Performs various calculations in more than one specific engineering field such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, or fire protection. n Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. nnWhat makes you a great fit:nn Minimum 2-year Technical Degree with two years of related experience. Bachelor's Degree and/or a focus in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field strongly preferred. Commensurate experience could be considered.n Experience in Field Engineering, Compliance, or Quality Engineering preferred.n Indoor Air Quality Testing, CSST Asbestos Certification or Field Inspection experience a plus. n ASQ certification a plus.n General electronics background, and strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.n Ability to cross sell and understand client business needs.n Strong written and verbal communications skills, and client-interfacing skills.n Strong computer skills.n Conflict resolution skills.n Ability to travel locally and regionally, and work remotely. Travel requirements are generally for local travel within a set radius of home location. Travel outside area is expected on occasion for training purposes and additional support of workload in other territories. n Comfortable using technology to collect datan Able to stand for long periods of time. n Being able to kneel, crouching, ducking u201cget on your hands and kneesu201d for detailed inspections.n Being able to climb a 6ft ladder or a fixed roof access ladder up to 30 ft typicallyn Walking several miles per day in a building (up to 5 miles a day)n Lift at least 40 pounds n Reach/work above headn Not afraid of heightsn Working in tight spaces n Work may be in dusty/dirty areas such as mechanical rooms, basements etc.n Work in direct sun on rooftops n Carrying/rolling up to 40-50 lbs of equipment through buildingsn Travel up to 40% as needed.n UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place to ensure the safety of our employees, customers and clients.
