Description
The Senior Compliance Professional will analyze business requirements, provide research and regulatory interpretation, and advise internal business units and external business partners in delivering results in a manner that minimizes compliance risk exposure for the Company. The Senior Compliance Professional's primary focus will be to develop and implement a plan to audit and monitor business processes to prevent, detect, and resolve compliance issues to help ensure an effective compliance program for Humana's Disability and Life insurance products. The Senior Compliance Professional works assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The Professional will serve as the Regulatory Compliance subject matter expert for Disability and Life insurance compliance issues.
Responsibilities
The Senior Compliance Professional's primary focus will be to develop and implement a plan to monitor and audit business processes to prevent, detect, and resolve compliance issues to help ensure an effective compliance program for Humana's Disability and Life insurance products.
For our Disability and Life insurance products, the Senior Compliance Professional shall:
Research, understand and apply laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance for Disability and Life insurance compliance issues;
Analyze business requirements and complex issues, conduct research, and provide regulatory guidance to business partners and leaders with regard to Disability and Life insurance compliance issues;
Perform risk assessments, develop and oversee corrective action plans, and provide guidance to operational groups;
Develop audit methodology and perform auditing and monitoring activities to prevent and detect issues of noncompliance and provide guidance on remedial actions to strengthen compliance controls and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations;
Provide on-going oversight monitoring of metrics and business policies, processes and operations to ensure full compliance and minimize risk for the Company;
Review and analyze market documents and data to identify what can be used to evidence compliance with regulatory standards;
Coordinate business partner engagement with external regulators, including audit preparation and oversight of business audit responses to ensure timely, accurate and complete submission of required data and documentation to regulators;
Recommend new measures of compliance performance, as well as new risk governance controls;
Present findings of oversight efforts to business partners and Enterprise Compliance leaders and track issue to ensure appropriate and timely remediation;
Lead and participate on committees, providing compliance guidance and direction;
Provide back-up and support to other Enterprise Compliance team members and perform other duties, as needed; and
Make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components and be able to work without significant direction.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Advanced experience working in a compliance-related or managed care-related field
Demonstrated ability to analyze regulatory requirements and assist business areas with understanding the impacts of requirements on their operations
Demonstrated ability to utilize analytical skills, data and analytics to understand broad impacts of regulatory requirements
Strong communication skills
Knowledge/understanding of laws and regulations governed by the Department of Insurance and other regulatory agencies
Preferred Qualifications:
J.D. or other graduate degree
3 years of experience in regulatory law, compliance, audit, consulting and/or risk management
Demonstrated ability to run large -scale, highly-visible programs with responsibility for multiple project teams
Experience or knowledge of disability insurance products
Experience or knowledge of life insurance products
Experience interacting with governmental agencies
Work-At-Home Requirements:
WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
