What is the role
The Incidents & Continuous Improvement Specialist Compliance Regulatory Reporting is a member of the Compliance Regulatory reporting Team (“RRT”) reporting to the Manager Compliance Regulatory Reporting (“Manager RRT”).
The RRT is responsible for the execution of Dodd-Frank and National Futures Association (“NFA”) reporting requirements, ensuring that Shell Trading and Supply (“T&S”) and its regulated businesses satisfy their regulatory reporting obligations.
The Incidents & Continuous Improvement Lead is responsible for managing and further improving a robust incidents management and escalation process for the RRT. These processes are to be in line with the Compliance Conduct and Ethics (“CCE”) Team’s (former ‘Trading Incident Assessment Team) established compliance incident management protocols as well as governing regulatory agencies (Commodity Futures Trading Commission (“CFTC”) and National Futures Association (“NFA”) as needed.
The continuous improvement responsibilities of the Incidents & Continuous Improvement Lead also include managing the IT enhancements for the RRT. This will involve close interface and coordination with IT stakeholders, RRT focals, business lines focals, supporting functions Business Application Owners (“BAO”) and project managers to track and manage the changes.
The responsibility of the Incidents & Continuous Improvement Lead further extents to managing and further improving the RRT SME learning and development programme to enable a clear development pathway across technical regulatory knowledge, regulatory reporting skillsets, and personal development.

The Incidents & Continuous Improvement Lead is responsible for:
Incidents
Manage the RRT incident management and escalation process.
Liaising with the T&S CCE team to embed and further enhance a robust incidents management process and escalation process for the RRT, in line with existing compliance incident management protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
Supporting with the compilation of comprehensive assessments and appropriate triage of compliance related incidents as it relates to RRT processes.
As required, support the management of compliance incidents working collaboratively with members of the RRT, CCE, T&S compliance, and other lines of business to mitigate risk and remediate incidents effectively.
Work closely with other compliance SMEs, such as Compliance Regulation team, and business stakeholder to gather their inputs on technical and SME matters as well fit for purpose character.
Continuous Improvement IT
Managing the ongoing IT enhancements and ongoing remediation of RRT system issues (BAU and/or Project based)
Interfacing with relevant stakeholders across T&S as required for timely implementation of resolutions and working with RRT Process & Controls Specialist and other RRT members to ensure solutions are sustainable in the long-term. Key stakeholders are IT, RRT business focals, business lines focals, supporting functions Business Application Owners (“BAO”) and project managers.
Synthesise complex and diverse information, collect and research data, use statistics and trend analysis, intuition, and experience to implement strategic fixes and eliminate reporting problems at inception.
Continuous Improvement Training
Manage the RRT learning and development programme, including a robust, evergreen RRT onboarding checklist for new recruits and ongoing development programme.
Work with RRT members and other SMEs to developing new trainings across technical regulatory knowledge, regulatory reporting skillsets, and new processes.
Tracking and monitoring training completions to ensure that RRT members are sufficiently trained to deliver on their BAU operations.
Maintaining the full library of RRT-specific trainings, ensuring updates and enhancements are implemented in response to regulatory, technology, and process changes, including where feedback on training improvements has been provided.
Soliciting feedback from the RRT on potential improvements to the training materials.
Maintaining a continuous improvement approach by ensuring that learnings from trading incidents or otherwise are assessed and implemented into the training materials.
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (or equivalent work experience).
3 or more years of relevant experience
Significant experience of developing and implementing SME training programmes in a regulatory reporting and/or compliance/risk environment, preferably within an energy and commodities derivatives environment.
Significant experience of implementing and managing incidents management and escalation processes within a regulatory compliance/risk environment.
Experience of regulatory reporting / compliance / business risk and controls roles in consulting, financial services, trading organisations, and regulators.
Experience in risk management systems (e.g. Nucleus, Open Link, Endur) with proficiency in Qlik as well as one or more of Access, Spotfire, Business Objects, SQL, Excel Macros, and TradeVault preferred.
Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and processes.
Understanding of Dodd-Frank reporting regulations, compliance requirements, and expectations.
Understanding of one or more segments of the T&S businesses (including Crude, Products, Energy, LNG, Shipping, Operations, and Supply)
Understanding of trading instruments, trading strategies, and risk concepts.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, including the ability to manage a global, diverse, and senior stakeholder group across T&S businesses and functions.
Excellent communication skills and virtual management of interfaces.
Desire to dig into detail, learn new things, and contribute as equal partner at table with business is essential.
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
Credible and persuasive in ensuring the needs of the business are fully understood.
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex and dynamic environments.
