Ever since the concept of industry began there has been the need to regulate it and make sure that it stays within the established parameters required by law. Because of that there have been certain officers established within the criminal justice system that make sure that business comply with the standards set by their industry and by the law. These people are called Compliance Officers, and it is a highly sought after career path. So what exactly do compliance officers do? Well, there are many different industries, so each of them needs to be trained in different areas. This being the case, the field is very specialized, and a few of the areas do not cross over very well. Some instances where a compliance officer would be needed are:

Food Industry: In the food industry there are certain rules that need to be complied with to maintain public health and safety. Some of the things that might be involved are checking whether old food is being trashed, that the establishment is cleaned, and making sure that food is properly cooked. This is a very important part of food service and without this, people would be in a load of trouble.

Medical Industry: This one really needs no explaining. It's pretty clear why we would need compliance officers in the Medical Field. They need to make sure that health codes are being followed, equipment is in working order etc.

Industrial/Construction: There are a lot of different rules set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA as far as the use of ladders, placement of equipment, and things like that. This is to ensure the safety of everyone that is working within a factory or on a specific job.

So how does one become a compliance officer? Since this is considered to be in the criminal justice field, one will have to acquire a degree in criminal justice. It would also help to have a bit of experience in the field that you want to be a compliance officer in. Unless of course, you want to major in four or five different fields and be a multi-purpose compliance officer.

That basically means that if you want to become a compliance officer in the medical field then you should actively pursue a career in the medical field so that you have knowledge of that field later on. The same goes for any other field that you want to be an active compliance officer within.

If you do choose to pursue a career in this Criminal Justice field, then you can expect to earn approximately $40,000 per year to begin with, and later on you could earn as much as $70-80K per year. That's definitely not pocket change, and is only one of the few reasons to follow this career path.

Another reason for doing this is the fact that you'll get to secure the safety and well being of thousands of people. Making sure that the upkeep of a facility is decent will ensure that everyone will remain healthy no matter where they work, eat, or seek medical care. You should really consider going into this rewarding field!
